{"id":54840,"date":"2024-03-26T19:27:47","date_gmt":"2024-03-26T18:27:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/antilla-martinique.com\/?p=54840"},"modified":"2024-03-26T19:31:17","modified_gmt":"2024-03-26T18:31:17","slug":"edf-en-martinique-investit-massivement-dans-son-reseau-et-pour-la-transition-energetique","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/antilla-martinique.com\/en\/edf-en-martinique-investit-massivement-dans-son-reseau-et-pour-la-transition-energetique\/","title":{"rendered":"EDF in Martinique is investing heavily in its grid and in the energy transition"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"p1\">On Tuesday, March 26, EDF in Martinique presented its 2023 results and outlook <strong>2024. <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Three key points stand out in this review: a slow but steady energy transition driven by the expansion of solar power generation; EDF\u2019s support for its customers\u2014particularly those in the most vulnerable situations\u2014to help them manage their energy consumption and, consequently, their budgets; and, finally, massive investments to modernize and strengthen the power grid and accommodate new sources of carbon-free energy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\">The march toward the energy transition continues<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">The energy transition rests on two pillars: production and consumption. On the production side, renewable energy still accounts for 26% of the electricity mix. While wind and biomass generation declined due to technical outages at power plants or in the surrounding grid, solar generation surged by 18% thanks to abundant sunshine and an increase in installed capacity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">On the consumption side, factors driving an increase in consumption were offset by effective management of energy demand. Indeed, the high temperatures in 2023 (the second-hottest year since 1965) led to increased use of air conditioners. In addition, customers are increasingly equipped with electrical appliances.
