Between May 30 and June 9, the Caribbean archipelago experienced a whirlwind of events: the start of hurricane season, a tense political transition in Haiti, record-breaking tourist numbers in Antigua, and a literary boom in Port-au-Prince.<\/h2>\n

This eighth issue opens with an unusual piece of news: for the first time since 2015, U.S. forecasters are predicting a below-normal hurricane season. This anticipated lull does not mean anyone can afford to let their guard down, as the NOAA, the OPS, and insurers in the region are all reminding the public.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, all eyes are on Haiti. The political transition passed the symbolic milestone of June 7 amid confusion, while the entire country is already cheering on its Grenadiers, who have qualified for the World Cup, and celebrating its literature at the 32nd edition of Livres en folie, an event full of promise.<\/p>\n
