Camille Darsières

A man of law and a man of memory, Camille Darsières devoted himself equally to the bar, to writing history, and to political activism. All three endeavors were driven by the same goal: to restore the people of Martinique’s sense of self.

Trained in law, Camille Darsières has pursued a career as a socially conscious lawyer, advocating for social causes and activist movements in Martinique. From an early stage, he has combined his legal practice with a political struggle for the dignity and emancipation of his country.

02The Historian of Martinique

Darsières is also a historian meticulous. He has written reference works on the history of Martinique, particularly on the figure of Cyrille Bissette and the origins of the Martinican nation. His archival research and analysis have inspired an entire generation in its quest for identity.

A pillar of the Martinique Progressive Party, who held leadership positions in the movement for many years, was one of the closest companions of'Aimé Césaire and served as member of the House of Representatives from Martinique. Loyalty and intellectual rigor have characterized his career as he has dedicated himself to a collective endeavor.
