A delegation from Anguilla attended the 2025 Joint Ministerial Council (JMC) in London, where it took part in discussions with British ministers, leaders of the overseas territories, and international partners.

The meetings, held from November 24 to 27, focused on constitutional development, economic planning, security, infrastructure, education, marine resources, waste management, and youth initiatives.

The event began with a meeting of the Caribbean and Bermuda Caucus, representing 81 % of the population of the British Overseas Territories.

Anguilla's interests were represented by Blondel Cluff, special advisor to the prime minister and representative of the government of Anguilla.

Other highlights included a meeting of the Political Council of the Association of British Overseas Territories and a bilateral meeting with Stephen Doughty, the British Minister of State for Overseas Territories.

In a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Commonwealth, and Development, he stated that the overseas territories are an invaluable part of the British family.

«These are vibrant communities that contribute to our shared prosperity and security, and are important stewards of our oceans and ecosystems, to name just a few of their many merits,» he said.

«Addressing the major challenges facing our overseas territories—including security, climate change, and economic growth—is a priority for this administration, as is continuing our collaboration to ensure good governance and transparency.»

The delegates also met with senior British officials, including King Charles III and the foreign minister, to advance strategic partnerships and strengthen ties with international actors.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Cora Richardson Hodge, the team discussed Anguilla’s sovereign wealth fund, the expansion of the airport runway, the framework for issuing fishing permits, and investments in youth and sports.

The prime minister was accompanied by Kyle Hodge, Minister of Economic Development; Fritz Smith; Rickiell Hodge; and Marisa Harding-Hodge, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance.
