Martinique Aimé Césaire Airport has seen a significant increase in passenger traffic so far in 2025, with a 1.34 % rise recorded in January compared to the previous year. This growth is driven by a sharp increase in international traffic and flights to Guadeloupe and the Northern Islands, which has partially offset the decline observed in flights to mainland France.
Mixed Results for Domestic Traffic
While traffic to mainland France remains the largest segment, with 129,842 passengers carried, it has seen a slight decline of 2.9 %. Service to Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle rose by 4.5 %, whereas that of’Orly is down 4.95 %, affected by regulations imposed by certain stakeholders. Flights to Nantes are also in withdrawal of 2.7 %.
In contrast, routes between Martinique and Guadeloupe are experiencing strong growth, with a 5.3 % increase, driven by the launch of Air Antilles in July 2024.
Remarkable international growth
One of the most notable trends so far this year is the surge in international traffic, which is up 22.3 %. This increase is mainly due to the growth in traffic with Canada (+22 %), driven by the expansion of’Air Canada and Air Transat. American Airlines has also expanded its service with three weekly flights to Miami.
The European segment also saw strong growth (+35.1% Q3), driven in particular by charter flights operated by MSC Cruises and Carnival Maritime. In the Caribbean, the arrival of new airlines such as Winair and Caribbean Airlines allows for a 45.8% increase from Q1 to Q3 traffic on this segment.
With these strong results, Martinique Aimé Césaire Airport is reaffirming its central role in the island’s connectivity by further opening up to international and regional markets.
