BermudAir has announced the launch of AnguillAir, a new service offering direct flights between Boston and Baltimore and the island of Anguilla starting this winter.
For the first time, travelers departing from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) will be able to fly directly to Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport (AXA) in Anguilla.
The service will begin on December 19 and will mark the Bermuda-based company's first major expansion since its launch in September 2023.
According to BermudAir's press office, the Boston-Anguilla route will operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with a departure from BOS at 10:05 a.m. and a return flight from AXA at 4:10 p.m.
The Baltimore-Anguilla route will also operate twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, with a departure from BWI at 10:25 a.m. and a return flight from AXA at 4:25 p.m.
This program will continue through April.
In a government video released on June 26, Prime Minister Cora Richardson Hodge described these new connections from the northeastern United States as a «major milestone» for Anguilla.
«This is excellent news, because the Northeast Corridor continues to bring more visitors to Anguilla than any other region,» she said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that this new service is the result of the work of Infrastructure Minister Jose Vanterpool and his team, who are responsible for modernizing Anguilla’s airport.
«We are confident that the tourism sector will remain strong and support our gross domestic product growth forecasts,» she added.
She also emphasized that this is a significant step forward, as these flights will provide direct access to Anguilla during the winter season.
Infrastructure Minister Jose Vanterpool explained that establishing this air service required finding a partner with the fleet and capacity to operate safely in Anguilla and beyond.
«It took targeted, strategic negotiations to achieve this result—establishing a direct connection to our main U.S. market and launching the first international flights to our modernized airport.»
He specified that the flights will be operated by a BermudAir Embraer 190 twin-engine jet.
Tourism Minister Cardigan Connor also welcomed this development: «No matter how good our tourism offerings are, they’re of little value if visitors can’t easily reach our destination.»
He emphasized that the launch of direct flights from Boston and Baltimore will be «transformative.».
«As our capacity grows, reliable, direct air service from these key gateways is essential to maintaining this momentum,» he added.
«With the support of our local partners, this service helps make Anguilla a premier destination.»
In a press release, Adam Scott, founder and CEO of BermudAir, described Anguilla as «a destination that particularly appeals to discerning travelers—peaceful, sophisticated, and truly unique.».
