    Black & White. Acrylic on canvas (100 x 100)

Our Featured Artwork: «Black & Whites.» Acrylic on canvas, by Béatrice MELINA. The BÔKAZ art gallery is located in the historic artists« quarter dating back to the early 20th century. BÔKAZ comes from the Creole phrase “bô kaz,” which means “near my home”… BÔKAZ thus sets itself apart “ A traditional art gallery with a warm and personal atmosphere. Visitors are welcomed as guests. They can easily feel «right at home»—a home where painting, photography, sculpture, and other art forms find their place. At BÔKAZ, visitors are invited to sit comfortably in the center of the gallery and let their imagination run free as they interpret the works on display. Everything is designed so that the concept and atmosphere of the BÔKAZ gallery can appeal to both newcomers and art lovers alike, making them want to stay. Decorators, interior architects, designers, and art enthusiasts will find inspiration there—and no doubt the desire to acquire. »

    Béatrice MELINA

BÔKAZ: «In her paintings, Béatrice Mélina expresses several passions: color, fashion, and interior design. Characterized by a sun-drenched style, her works take us on a journey into the unique world of cultural fusion, the Caribbean, and its contrasts. Through her paintings, one can discern the influences of renowned artists such as Miró, Picasso, and Modigliani, yet the artist truly possesses an authentic style that sets her apart. Christian Lacroix’s fabrics are also a source of inspiration. Recurring themes in her paintings include generosity, love, and above all, tenderness—qualities reflected in the benevolent gaze of the characters born of her imagination. It was on the eve of her 40th birthday and following the passing of a loved one that Béatrice Mélina devoted herself entirely to her art. Painting became her outlet, her companion through the night. For three years, brushes and paints danced across her canvases, from dusk till dawn. After producing about a hundred paintings, she decided to launch her professional career as a self-taught artist and participated in the Salon des Artistes Indépendants at the Espace Champerret in the spring of 2008. The public’s reception of her paintings was surprisingly enthusiastic and well-received. Named the event’s favorite artist, the Grand Palais opened its doors to her in 2009, and she was invited to exhibit as part of the «Salon des Indépendants.» Today, interior designers call upon her talent to decorate hotels and apartments. The striking contrast between her modern paintings and their baroque frames adds a significant dimension to the overall impact of her work.»
