Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said that his government wanted to explore the possibility of allowing Palestinians to settle in Dominica.

He made this announcement during his presentation on the 2025–2026 national budget on Thursday.

«The other issue we need to address is the situation of the Palestinians. »I believe we will be open to engaging in dialogue with the governments of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates with a view to resettling a few hundred Palestinians in Dominica if we can secure funding from those governments,” he said.

According to Skerrit, his government is also working with the U.S. government on this matter.

«If we can put the infrastructure in place,» he said.

He continued, «This country is home to some very talented people—highly skilled doctors and engineers who, we are convinced, can help us develop the economy and address our skills gaps.»

The Prime Minister added, «We will therefore engage the public on these issues and seek their input on these topics.»

He also said that the world is moving forward now, «and that we need to be more open.».

Meanwhile, Skerrit revealed that the government would soon be developing a more progressive immigration policy.

«One of the things we’ll be doing very soon is developing a more progressive immigration policy for our country,» he revealed.

He emphasized that every law Dominica inherited from the British is aimed at prevention, not facilitation.

«And I believe we have enough land in Dominica to accommodate a growing population, and therefore we must—in terms of visa policies—I believe we should consider eliminating all visa requirements for Dominica for all citizens worldwide and making it easier for people to enter…» ,” Skerrit said.

The Parliament of Dominica has been adjourned indefinitely .
