Law enforcement authorities seized nearly one million EC dollars’ worth of illegal drugs at the Port of Castries on Saturday, November 15, discovering compressed foreign cannabis and cannabis resin hidden inside barrels.
The seizure included 22.76 kilograms of compressed cannabis, valued at $500,000, from Hangar 7, as well as an additional 4.32 kilograms of cannabis and resin, valued at $400,000, from Hangar 6.
All the items were photographed, tested, and sealed, police said.
The operation was carried out by the Gang, Narcotics, and Firearms Unit (GNFU) and the Customs and Excise Service.
«Investigations are continuing into the recipients linked to the intercepted barrels,» said Inspector Shervon Matthieu, the officer in charge of the GNFU.
