All in all, last year was relatively quiet for hotels in the Caribbean; while a few properties made a splash, several of the most highly anticipated ones—whose openings were scheduled for 2025—did not ultimately materialize. This means, however, that a large number of promising new hotels are expected to welcome their first guests in 2026 across the Caribbean, ranging from trendy urban hotels in destinations like Grand Cayman to new luxury resorts in emerging locations (such as the Four Seasons in Cartagena), to large all-inclusive resorts in popular destinations like Punta Cana. 

This year promises to be an eventful one for hotels in the Caribbean. Here are 17 properties set to open in the region this year—and the ones we’re particularly excited about.

Lopesan Splash Cove, Lopesan Caoba Lagoon, and Lopesan Serenity Bay

One of our favorite all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean is expanding significantly this year with the addition of three new, distinct hotels within the Lopesan Costa Bavaro resort in Punta Cana. Each of these five-star hotels will have its own unique personality and identity: Lopesan Splash Cove will feature 244 rooms, including spectacular rooms that open directly onto the pool and offer views of the water park; Lopesan Caoba Lagoon will feature 552 rooms in a lagoon setting inspired by cenotes; and the Lopesan Serenity Bay will be an adults-only resort with 239 rooms. 

The biggest perk? Access to all the facilities at Lopesan Costa Bavaro, including its iconic Boulevard—an open-air, pedestrian shopping promenade offering a wide range of activities, from a rum bar to a bowling alley. A major draw among the region’s all-inclusive options. Opening May 1; reservations are now being accepted. Without a doubt, this is the most promising new tourist destination in the Caribbean this year.
