From November 5 to 9, 2024, the MICELA association will present a photo exhibition in tribute to Daniel Boukman, an iconic writer and activist from Martinique, at the Alfred Melon-Dégras Media Library in Saint-Esprit. Titled «Boukman: Lives, Traces, and Detours of a Writer and Activist,» this event offers a visual journey through the life and activism of this exceptional man.
Who is Daniel Boukman?
Daniel Boukman is a writer and poet from Martinique whose works explore identity, resistance, and the history of the African diaspora in the Caribbean. Deeply committed to the recognition of the rights and cultures of Afro-Caribbean peoples, Boukman has skillfully woven themes of social struggle, identity, and memory into his writing. This activism is reflected in his literary and personal journey, throughout which he has never ceased to speak out on behalf of his people.
