The City of Lamentin, as part of a proactive effort to develop, modernize, and secure its infrastructure, is continuing to fulfill its commitments by investing in improvements to its residents’ quality of life.
A brand-new school in Pelletier
The City’s planned investments focus on several key projects, foremost among which is the construction of the new Pelletier School, which will replace a century-old structure with a building that meets earthquake-resistant standards. This new facility will be equipped with appropriate amenities, including safe playgrounds and modern classrooms.
More energy-efficient lighting
Street lighting has not been overlooked. The city’s street lighting renovation project involves replacing thousands of light fixtures with advanced LED technology. This change will significantly improve energy efficiency and safety through better illumination, while reducing energy consumption.
New Facilities for the Municipal Police
In addition, a security center will be built to meet earthquake-resistant standards. A former hospital building will be converted into an operations center for the municipal police and civil defense, centralizing services to improve efficiency while revitalizing the downtown area.
Making the Georges-Gratiant Stadium a Viable Venue
The renovation of Georges-Gratiant Stadium will upgrade its lighting system, including the replacement of the mobile hoisting system to ensure user safety and facilitate maintenance, thereby maintaining the stadium as a viable venue for sports and culture.
Work is underway on certain projects, with detailed planning in place to ensure their completion on schedule and within budget. These projects will improve safety, energy efficiency, and public services for the residents of Lamentin. They will help reduce long-term operating costs while making the city more attractive to new residents and investors.
These initiatives are carried out through a close partnership between the City of Lamentin, the AFD, the Territorial Collectivity of Martinique (CTM), the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), and other local stakeholders.
The City of Lamentin is thus strengthening its partnership with the French Development Agency (AFD) through a long-term loan of 10 million euros.
