There are two ways to examine a political initiative: to scrutinize its official platform or to analyze the concrete choices its supporters have made while serving their elected offices in the recent past. This second option is all the more interesting because lawmakers may, in committee or on the floor of the National Assembly, defend positions that were not—or not yet—included in their original party’s platform. This is the case with the National Rally’s elected representatives in the National Assembly, who, through their initiatives or amendments, have at times supported proposals absent from Marine Le Pen’s 2022 platform and still missing from Jordan Bardella’s platform today. At the heart of it all remains the far-right’s xenophobic agenda. We have analyzed these developments in detail.
