GBH Acquires Liqueur Producer Joseph Cartron in Nuits-Saint-Georges
Spiribam, the entity that brings together GBH’s spirits brands, has acquired Joseph Cartron, a distiller and liqueur producer based in Nuits-Saint-Georges since 1882. The two companies are very familiar with one another, as the Burgundy-based producer has been handling the distribution of Rhum J.M—owned by the Bernard Hayot Group (GBH)—to cafes, hotels, and restaurants since 2004. Joseph Cartron will enhance Spiribam’s portfolio, which already includes Rhum Clément, the J.M. distillery, the Bounty, Chairman’s Reserve, and Admiral Rodney brands produced by Saint Lucia Distillers, as well as the Mauritian brands Arcane and Beach House Spiced. The new group will thus be enriched by a broad range of renowned fruit creams, brandies, liqueurs, and vermouths.
«I am proud that the GBH Group has chosen our company as part of its expansion,» said Judith Cartron, president of Joseph Cartron, who will continue to lead Joseph Cartron and will be entrusted with a broader scope of responsibilities within the new organization. «Together, we will be able to accelerate the commercial development of our brands by leveraging the strength of our long-established distribution network in France.» « Grégoire Guéden, director of GBH’s spirits division, described this acquisition as a »marriage of passion and reason” that allows Spiribam to expand into spirits categories beyond rum. “Our teams,” Mr. Guéden continued, “know each other very well and have been working together for over fifteen years; the skills and expertise of each of us will bring real added value to this new entity.”
The price of the transaction was not disclosed.
Joseph Cartron produces and distributes an extensive collection of 70 flavors that blend tradition and innovation, including fruit creams, liqueurs, aperitifs (such as the first Burgundian vermouths), fruit brandies, and Burgundian marc and fines. Distributed in France and in 45 countries worldwide.
